I've just found rdesktop & I've gotta say that it's the most useful piece=
software I've found in a long time! I've used VNC for ages & this is so =
better. Thanks for making it available.
I've been using rdesktop 1.1.0 to connect to a Win2k terminal server & th=
has been flawless... no problems as of yet. I've just installed WinXP p=
on a machine & am trying to use rdesktop to connect to it. Have noticed =
1. The only display depth available on the remote client is 8bpp. Is th=
way to change this? On the Win2k box, rdesktop seems to default to whate=
I have the display adapter set to on the box - normally 16bpp. The displ=
on the XP box is also set to 16bpp, but rdesktop will only run @ 8. That=
the only option available in the display properties box when I connect. =20
Maybe it's a driver problem? I have a voodoo 3 in the XP box & there are=
supported 3dfx drivers for XP. The ms provided driver isn't that great.
2. If I use the -g switch, I'm unable to connect to the XP box. Get the=
connection reset by peer message. Leave that switch out & it works fine=20
(aside from the poor color).
Maybe these are known problems, or limitations with the server XP uses. =
looked through the archive but didn't see anything along these lines.
Also, I would offer one suggestion... I use Xinerama, have two monitors=20
connected to my Linux box. I'd like to use rdesktop in full screen mode =
time to time, but I'm not crazy about it spaning both monitors. I'm not =
programmer so I don't know how feasible it would be to enable some sort o=
multi-headed support, but it would be nice. Other apps, like mpeg / dvd=
players, are able to go to full screen mode but only use one monitor -=20
leaving the other free for other things.
