Category: Internals Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Estagus (wizard580) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Can't connect to WinServ 2008 SP2: "internal license error" Initial Comment: Today, after update my win 2008 server to SP2, my rdesktop failed to connect. $ rdesktop -d rimsco -u "admin" -p pass -g 90% 192.168.1.3 Autoselected keyboard map ru disconnect: Internal licensing error. When I remove ~/.rdesktop/license.<hostname> I can connect ONLY ONE TIME, and after disconnect it fail again. PLEASE, DO NOT MARK AS DUPLICATE! Other messages from 2008year, and this is a fresh issue, only with W2k8 SP2 RDP server. rdesktop 1.6.0 Ubuntu 9.04 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Chaskiel Grundman (cg2v) Date: 2011-04-21 12:30 Message: I have tested rdesktop 1.7.0 and it behaves the same way. If no license file is present, it can connect. if one is present (even one created by 1.7.0) it fails with the internal licensing error. (ubuntu 10.10, 64bit) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Amit Doshi (ameetkd) Date: 2011-04-18 07:49 Message: Whre i Can find the Rdesktop 1.7.0, does it support Windows 2008 farm support also? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Peter Åstrand (astrand) Date: 2011-04-18 07:45 Message: Can you re-try with rdesktop 1.7.0? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Amit Doshi (ameetkd) Date: 2011-04-18 07:37 Message: I am also haivn an issue to login to windows 2008 R2 per device license. from Where I can download rdesktop version - 1.6.0.5 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Lothar Roth (lroth) Date: 2009-10-19 07:23 Message: Our workaround is like the one from xmasterx but without the requirement of root rights Remove/Delete the ".rdesktop"-directory # rm -rf ~/.rdesktop and create a _file_ # touch ~/.rdesktop rdesktop will complain that /home/<user>/.rdesktop is not a directory but it will continue without writing the license file :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2009-10-12 12:30 Message: same problem, internal licensing error after a single connection, fresh install of ubuntu ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2009-08-21 07:39 Message: I tested with version 8.04.3 LTS the error message is more explicit: Error : Failed to extract pulbic key from certificate Error : Connection closed ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2009-08-21 04:53 Message: I also the same problem, i can only connect once. Also message : Internal licensing error. My serveur is Windows 2008 Hyper-V Entreprise sp2. I found this problem in Ubuntu 9.4 , 9.10. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2009-08-11 07:30 Message: I have the same problem. I can only connect once… Then I have the : Internal licensing error. But the distribution for Igel Thinclients use rdesktop version 1.6.0.5 and they have no problem to connect to a licensed windows 2008 server. Is a official Patch existing? Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Pedro Cardoso (xmasterx) Date: 2009-07-07 15:16 Message: The workarround that I find, until a patch for this bug is released, is to do: # chown -R root.root /home/<username-with-problems-here>/.rdesktop and just is case: # chmod -R 444 /home/<username-with-problems-here>/.rdesktop then just delete the license.<hostname> file and it work like a charm :D I'm using rdesktop 1.6.0 with Ubuntu 9.04, trying to connect to a Windows 2008 Enterprise 32bit Portuguese with SP2. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2009-07-07 01:22 Message: I checked in [MS-RDPELE] and I found this on page 82: "<1> Section 1.3.3.3: The License PDU flow for personal terminal servers described in this section is valid for only Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 client operating systems. Similarly, the licensing architecture (section 1.3.1) and license PDU flow (section 1.3.3) for personal terminal servers exist in Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 client operating systems only. For previous versions of Windows, the personal terminal server does not require a CAL and sends a license error message (see [MS-RDPBCGR] section 2.2.1.12.1.3) with the dwErrorCode field set to STATUS_VALID_CLIENT (0x00000007)." This most likely is the source of the problem. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=381347&aid=2817779&group_id=24366 |
