Thanks. Changing that setting does seem to have worked.

Just out of curiosity, commit r1792 should fix this and set this flag
per default when connecting to the server. This fix was verified
working and is included in release 1.8.2.

Looking at the code, you're setting RDP5_NO_CURSOR_SHADOW as the default for g_rdp5_performanceflags in the declaration, but the command-line parser (rdesktop.c line778), just overrides the value if you specify -x and another value. For example, -x m, -x b.

In short, specifying -x eliminates the "fix" of applying "RDP5_NO_CURSOR_SHADOW".
