rdesktop-1.8.3 seems to have stopped working with VirtualBox's RDP server. I can see the screen of the remote host, but cannot use the keyboard or mouse. It is not totally locked up, since I can see the remote's cursor flashing, however I cannot even close the rdesktop window, I must either kill it or find the terminal I started it from and issue CTRL-C.

I am happy to test patches, as I build from source (Gentoo)

    I found some time and used svn-bisect, it seems that r1823 breaks it for me.

    Hi, I'm also affected but I'm not so sure r1823 is the one causing the issue as 1.8.1 doesn't work for me either. I only manage to use VRDP with 1.7.1 (Gentoo user here too).
    For the record, the issue is also present on Archlinux.

    It seems I was wrong, the issue I mentioned (present in 1.8.1) has already been fixed. 1.8.2 works fine but 1.8.3 has this flashing cursor thing.

    Gentoo just stabled virtualbox 4.3.28 and for me the issue went away. YMMV

    David, did you mean virtualbox 4.3.28 or 5?
    It seems to work with Gentoo's VirtualBox 5 which is what I have now but not with Archlinux's 4.3.28-1.
