I may be possibly Moving the ModPack over to an SVN/installer download that will make downloading the ModPack ALOT easier.
It will be an installer, but the files will be over the Subversion instead of through the installer. Im trying to make it so updating the ModPack will be alot easier, and allowing me to change the files over SourceForge.
This will possibly make it required though to possibly need to download an SVN client (Tortuous SVN) for the downloading process to work. None of this is definite, but the next version of the modpack is currently a WIP.
Im not sure what im going to be doing yet. It will be awhile before a release or even major work to get done lol.
Here's a list of some questions/pros/cons/comparisons to what I may do...
Questions | If I do whats above (RevCoasters Huge ModPack 1.5 SVN) | Normal Installer Without SVN |
---|---|---|
Updating | It will be easy for you to update | Not as easy but update poss |
Standalone | May Require an SVN client to run | Can be used standalone |
Control | (Planning) on a mod/ctr/selection (More user Ctrl) | Same-but poss less Ctrl |
Whats New | No mater what installer I choose, both will have a less risk of crashing | Same |
Size | Very small (All files will be in SVN) | Around 1GB + |
Speed | Depends on your internet speed, and computer | About a half hour |
Amount Of Objects | I will remove some broken objects in the pack (less crashing) | Same |
Overall when its done, and im taking my time ;). It will hopefully be alot easier to use, and install to files. There will be some crash prone objects removed to stop the game from crashing so much. It will have a working updating system, and hopefully a fully working uninstaller that won't require you to uninstall/re-install RCT3 like 1.4 may have you doing lol. Less clutter in your RCT3 folder, and will just be easier to use, and update. And easier for me to modify if I need to ;D.
It will be awhile before anything happens so hold on and watch for updates ;D
