Good news, guys,

  I fixed the bug in the project that was causing it to send its
output to cout instead of the output file.  It involved a strange
decision made by the Xerces people when they chose to do all that mess
with global variables.  They probably wouldn't have made the mistake
if they hadn't used global variables.
