Neither can I bind this keye-combination in the shortcut manager of gnome, by pressing the mouse button, I have to use the keybord to generate the entry.
The simple KEY:Q also fails to print a Q in an editor or the console, nor does MACRO:Q.
I am still quite an Linux newbe, running Fedora 9 with gnome 2.22.1 (hope that's what you need to know)

I managed to bind Macro to one of the Mousebutons of my Copperhead:
Profile 1:
DPI: 2000dpi
Rate: 1000Hz
Button 1: BUTTON1 [0x01]
Button 2: BUTTON2 [0x02]
Button 3: BUTTON3 [0x03]
Button 4: BUTTON5 [0x0b]
Button 5: BUTTON4 [0x0a]
Button 6: MACRO [0x06] LCtrl:down LAlt:down Q:down LCtrl:up LAlt:up Q:up
Button 7: ON_THE_FLY [0x09]
