I am new to 18xx and I want to play more, but I really dislike the book-keeping. I played around with Lemmi's moderator, but I found it unusable. If it was in English it would be hard to use, but in German it's impossible. Rails seems like a superb solution, but it seems to be designed to play the games in hot-seat mode. I'd much rather sit around a board. a) Can Rails already be used as a moderator? b) If not, please can you make the amendments? c) How can I help? Sadly, I'm not a coder. -- Iain |

In fact, the current version has about everything that Lemmi's moderator has, except a correction mode in which you can change *anything*. In addition you have a graphical map. > > b) If not, please can you make the amendments? > > I'm sure the experience could be improved. I can't think of any such amendments. Suggestions welcome! Thanks! I'll try this out as soon as I can get one of the supported 18xx games. Do you have any plans for 1825? Incidentally, I am trying to login to the Sourceforge web space, but I am having nightmares getting SSH keys to work. -- Iain |

Unfortunately I don't have any of the 18xx games supported, but I'll give it a go as soon as I do. > > c) How can I help? I'm not certain if they also provide any sort of database support, but you're welcome to look into it to find out. At this point, if you want to take this on, I'm open to any suggestion that doesn't involve me hand-editing html files. ;-) Just let me know what your sourceforge account is and I'll set up the permissions. ---Brett. Great! Even if I can't get a wiki going, I'll make the front page look a little nicer. I can see the document manager and the screenshots function, but I can't see the web space. While hunting for the web space, I saw that Sourceforge *does* provide it's projects with wikis. http://alexandria.wiki.sourceforge.net/Wiki This is probably the best approach, as it means there will be less admin hassles to do with spam etc. On 5/9/08, Brett Lentz <wak...@gm...> wrote: > > On Fri, 2008-05-09 at 22:22 +0100, Iain Cheyne wrote: >> Great! > Do you have any plans for 1825? > Ultimately, yes, but not likely soon. Currently, the demand for 1856 seems to be highest. I'm also working on 1835. After these (or one of these), I consider starting to work on some dearly lacking generic features: either route awareness (to restrict tile and token placements and allow automatic revenue calculation), or the Holy Grail: internet playability. For the latter I'm considering to start a discussion on how it can be technically achieved (architecture, protocols etc). Perhaps not here but in the 18xx-softdev yahoo group, as the audience is much larger there. Erik. |
