Good Day, please make sure that you save ALL Rails-Save games in a different place outside the actual installation path, if you have choosen to save them below your actual Rails installation path and want to change that path in subsequent installation. The way the Packager under windows installs new Releases works (designed by Microsoft), it will remove the path of the old directory if you choose to install the new version in a new directory. There is currently no way to avoid that behaviour. Regards Martin for the rails Development Team |

Hi Volker, if you put it ito a different directory you are right i am afraid. We will have to look into the installer routines. Sorry about the inconvinience :( Hope you were able to recover your save games. Our apologies. Martin |

good evening, one remark to the installation routine. I've installed rails 2.2.1.exe in one folder with games folder. after installing rails 2.3 in a different folder, the clean-up routine kills also my games folder without asking. Thanks. Good Evening,
please find the release notes for version 2.3.0.
Rails-18xx version 2.3.0
*
Completed 18Scan.
See the Game Notes for some limitations, and instructions on how to
handle reaching destinations, which must be done manually (as in 1856).
*
Implemented Steam over Holland (SOH).
It includes three Start Round variants, which must be selected in
the Options menu before starting the game. See the Game Notes for
details.
A new feature is the cost imbursement of completing a river
crossing. Crossable rivers are displayed on the map in the same way
as impassible tile edges in other games.
*
Fixed 1856 bugs, related to using 8-trains rather than Diesels, and
to CGR token placement when upgrading a #59
<https://github.com/Rails-18xx/Rails/pull/59> OO tile.
*
Several (potential and actual) action logging messages have been
clarified.
*
Minor Bug Fixes to 1880
Thanks to all Bug reporters and to Erik Vos for fixing most of them and
contributing the implementations of 18Scan and Steam over Holland.

Hello, a new RC of the 2.0 version is available. Please note that two bugs and some mechanics have been changed. This version WILL break 1835 games ongoing. It is still recommend to be used as the previous versions omitted some mechanic in the shareround. 1880 games might also break in the late game. 18AL should now be playable again. Kind regards, Martin |

Fellow 188x Players,
we have a released a maintenance release for the Rails 1.9 Version.
Rails release 1.9.2
This is a minor release fixing the following bugs:
-1880: Created a silent Discard Train Routine to handle the case
that a special
train buy will trigger a Phase Change.
Fixes a Bug reported by Rick Westermann.
-1835: Corrected behaviour in 1835 Stockround that treated a
share selling
action so far as prolonging the stockround. According to the
german
rules that was not correct. A Share selling action only does
not prolong
the round, a share must be bought.
-1856: Corrected Bug in Phase handling of ports. The port marker
got removed
one phase earlier than intended by the rules.
Fixes a Bug reported by Erik Vos
1856: fixed bugs in certificate limit recalculation
Recalculation was:
- not done if CGR did not form
- not done when companies closed after CGR formation
- incorrect even if done if CGR did not form and companies
closed
- missing some checks
Thank you to all our testers.
Please report any bugs you find on the mailinglist as usual.
Thank you for the patience and feedback.

to be neglected if no Minors would
be operating still at Start of Phase 5 while Privates would not have
been exchanged.
Bug reported by Oliver Heck.
Thank you to all our testers.

Hello, today the version 1.8.10 of rails got released. This version fixes one major bug in the handling of stock selling. Previously the code would only adjust the stock price by one slot per sale (even if multiple shares got sold in one action). This behaviour has been corrected. Now an action that causes a number of shares of the same company to be sold will adjust the stockprice per 10% value. Please be advised that this new version will possibly break old save games (if multiple shares got sold in the same action). Regards, Martin |

Good afternoon everyone,
the Version 1.8.9 including the 1880 variant has been released on
sourcceforge:
Extract from the readme below:
This is a minor release fixing the following bugs:
- 1880: Fixed the following problems:
Investor able to operate in communist phase
End of game not triggered correctly
Transsib Modifier missing
Fixed tile definitions for 8854,8856, 8855 and 8858
Due to changed end Game behaviour this release might break games in
progress after the sales/discarding of the 6E in the later stages of the
game. If you erronously had a stockround after the 8E got discarded or
soldout this release will definately throw an error. Please proceed with
caution. Existing savefiles wont be overwritten if you used the standard
savefile configuration.
Enjoy,
Martin

Hello fellow rails-fans,
we would like to inform you about a small maintenance release : 1.8.7
This is a minor release fixing the following bugs:
- 1856: Fixing the bug reported on the CGR Formation if previous
to the
formationround companies have already been closed.
Fixing a bug with a player being forced to buy a 10
percent share
but couldnt to become president of the CGR after
formationround.
- 1880: Fixed problem when an investor was the last company to
run in an
operating round. nextStep(FINAL) (which calls done())
should not
be called inside getPossibleActions() - instead, done()
should be
called inside process()
Thank you to all who reported the bugs.
Please report any bugs you find on the mailinglist as usual.
Thank you for the patience and feedback.

Rails release 1.8.6
This is a minor release fixing the following bugs:
- 1880: Tile definitions : Upgrade paths for small stations
in green to brown was missing.
Investors who are closed remain due to technical reasons
on display until the end of the current OR. This caused
their homebasehexes to block new token lays, even if they
had been exchanged. This is now corrected.
Thank you to all who reported the bugs.
Please report any bugs you find on the mailinglist as usual.
Thank you for the patience and feedback.

We would like to announce the release of 1.8.5.
Be advised that this will alter behaviour of save games (it even might
break some) for the following game variants: 1880, 1856 and 1835.
This is a minor release fixing the following bugs:
- 1880: Operation rounds in 1880 would end after 3 occurrences with
a hard reset towards the first company in the current round.
Stockrounds would be ignored. The hard coded end after the
third OR is now enforced at game end if specific conditions
are met. Fixed definition error on Map - Water tile J16
didn't have its negative value set.
Please check if the YC-Specialproperty is working as
intended.
- 1856: The position of the CGR-share on the stockmarket was
hardcoded to the second row on formation. This has now been
moved to row 0. Please check. This will break/alter all
1856 games in progress so caution is advised.
- 1835: Introducing a switch name PrussianReservedIgnored. This
switch if toggled to yes on game start will tell rails to
ignore unavailable prussian shares (shares that have not
yet been converted in the Prussianformation process) in
determining if the prussian shares are sold out or not.
The old and current default method will treat unconverted
shares as unsold !

Hello to all rails fans, 1.8.3. got released today. It fixes a number of bugs and glitches related to 1880 code. Our thanks go out to all the testers who sent us their reports in the last 4 weeks. The bugs reported have all been squashed (and a few more glitches that raised their heads in internal testing of the endgame). We advise people to use the Special Power of the Engineer (Building Permit in Phase D additionally) in Phase C or earlier. Currently it is possible to use the power on any turn but it wont enable the tile laying if its used in Phase D and not before for that particular turn of the target company, later turns are fine though. Contributors: Michael Alexander Martin Brumm Lars Myrin - Testing jr...@gm... - Testing Thiago Penteado - Testing Antero Kuusi - Testing Stefan Frey Stephen Yu - Testing Many thanks to all of you. The game should now be able to played with all features. If you encounter any unusual behaviour please dont hesitate to contact us via the rails-user list and remember to send a savefile! Have fun in playing (and maybe testing). Martin |

Hello Rails-Community, after a long time we are now able to present you with a new variant being fully supported (at least we think so :)) by rails. 1880 is now fully supported by rails 1.8.0. Our tests didnt bring up bugs sofar. If you find some or think you found one, please send the save game based on 1.8.0. There shouldnt be any problems with other savegames from the 1.7.10-1.7.12 releases either. I would like to thank Erik Vos, Brett Lentz and Stefan Frey for their support in the past 2 years. And of course i have to thank Michael Alexander for the finishing touches of the more complex code parts needed to make 1880 work in rails finally. Have fun, Martin Brumm |
