As I mentioned, I modified the format to include things I needed. One of the things I added was #-lines for comments. I added a number of fields and values that I needed to render the tiles properly. I don't actually use TileDesigner to render the tiles, but my custom perl code which reads the modified TileDesigner format and generates Postscript. The perl internals were derived from the original Delphi code, but a number of rendering primitives were added and a Posctscript renderer was added to generate print-quality tile. I sent the PS rendering code back to Marco, and I think he was working to integrate it into his Delphi code, but I haven't followed that closely. Since then, I loaded the TileDesigner data into an Informix database which is my authoritive copy, and I have import/export tools to my modified .18t format. The in-database version has additional data that was calculated on the fly by the layout code, so I could tweak it manually and mark it as no longer automatically generated. -- John A.
