[Rails-devel] 1880 tiles and tiles in general

Martin:
as I discovered in preparation of my move for the BGG game of 1880, 
there are some tiles with wrong values.

I found the yellow OO (235) and Shanghai (8877) tiles, however there 
might be more.

Some of the mess I created myself by updating the tile information for 
1880 of Rails from the TileDesigner files. This was part of my addition 
of tiles for 18NL.

As you told me in Essen you have recently by-passed the TileDesigner and 
created/changed the files directly and so I overwrote those changes 
without knowing.

There is some process setup for manually changed files (see for example 
HandmadeTiles.xml in folder /src/main/resources/tiles).

The short-term solution is:

I will check, which tiles in 1880 are effected and change them 
accordingly and those changes will be included in upcoming RC 2.
I still have to  wait for broadband access at home, anyway ... :-(

However we need to change that process if we want to be able to cover 
more titles with less effort.

Maybe we should do a "sprint" type of meeting (I would offer to travel 
to Bremen for that) to discuss how a suitable definition of tiles for 
Rails could look like and start some hacking on a Java package that 
creates the visual components out of those definitions. This would even 
allow us to bypass the SVG tiles and make a potential Android support 
much easier.

What is your opinion?
