As long as it is clear that there is a default and it's easy to switch to the other versions/options, it doesn't much matter. Creating a game takes what, about 2 minutes? When you consider the entire investment of playing the game, that isn't a lot. Forcing people to change a game setup option because the default isn't the version they want to play is not a big deal.
