John David Galt asked to change it to the published auction variant.

I will stick to that change as I agree with John that in general the 
rules as published should be the default.

A related question is how to handle rule changes from new releases: For 
example the up-coming 1844/1854 will deviate from the previous versions.
Rails should support the old and the new release. However what should be 
the default?
