I tried a solo game of 18Scan last year and got some of the way through, with some manual adjustments along the way. IIRC, I got stuck when it came to folding in the minors to form the SJ, and when assigning Privates to the Public companies. I also wanted to adjust the stock market at some point and could't find a manual way of doing so. It does occur to me that it might be useful if Rails allowed a game to be played almost entirely manually, with a mode where items could be manually adjusted akin to using a Cyberboard module. The idea is that this would make it easier to play a prototype game all the way through, with the automation gradually being added on top. I don't know if this would be as easy to implement as it sounds. Of course, being an open source project, the work done is entirely down to those with the enthusiasm to work on it, so youse should all work on what interests you. (Sadly I have no time for coding these days). Dave. |
