I had just re-saved an existing profile (attached a copy with stripped
sound config) after toggling a yes/no option (->save) and then
toggling it back (->save).
But even if the yes/no option value is not removed from the config
file, it's not that important as the end users won't recognize this
situation. So, if I was you, I wouldn't invest too much in
investigating this.
