Very good proposal.

But I'll refrain from changing anything within rails.game until the
switch to rails 2.0 in order to avert merging issue - and local name
would be an attribute within the model.

==> I changed the encoding to UTF-8 (patch attached).
@Stefan: Would you mind to verify kanji visibility and push it if it's ok now?
