For what little it's worth, I'd rather the background maps stay as
they are. Right now they're functional and I'm generally of the
opinion that having a prettier map does not make up for what you lose
in ability to read the map at a glance. Currently there a certain
elegance to the maps in their clean lines and lack of distraction.
