Bill - Yup. That's a fairly normal workflow for Git. Rebasing your local commit history for public consumption is one of the nicer things Git supports. However, because it does change the repository's history, it's a bit tricky to get correct. The most important detail is that once changes are pushed to the public repository, they shouldn't be changed.
