As far as I'm aware, nobody is working on 1848. 18VA, 18GA, 1825, and
1856 have been the most recently talked about games. I think you're
the first to mention 1848.

We've had no direct contact with them that I'm aware of. It's
certainly appreciated if we obtain their blessing, but that might be
complicated by any contracts they already have. So far, we haven't
been actively contacting game designers outside of the 18xx mailing
list, but we do have a standing policy to remove game support if we
receive any word from the designer or publisher that we've infringed.
