I gave it a try:
Adding a JScrollPane wrapper for the GameStatus panel and moving that to the 
CENTER position in the BorderLayout and the ButtonPanel to the SOUTH position 
should fix that issue. 
This would allow to add a MessagePanel to the NORTH position to display help 
text and other messages at the top of the window, similar to the OR window.
This should be tested a little if there are not unexpected side effects. Our 
integration tests currently does not cover the UI part.
