No, 1856 is a long haul.
You may have overlooked that I have proposed a "change freeze", which is to
avoid the side effects that my sometimes complex updates sometimes have. In
other words, I will stop working on new features until after the release.

Fine with me if that would inspire you to move the release to an earlier
date.
Another option might be to put the release into a CVS branch.
