It would be nice if save files were associated with the game batch/sh files, so users in Mac/Linux/Windows could open the program from a save file directly - i.e. double click in Windows to open.
Under Windows you can do that manually in Windows Explorer (Tools/Folder Options/File Types). You may need to insert a cd command in the rails.bat file to make sure the program runs in the right directory.
I can't say anything about Mac and Linux.

As best I can tell, your suggestion only opens Rails. It doesn't load the appropriate game file after launching Rails.
