Ah - seems the reply-to header has changed with the new list.... On 27 Feb 2006, at 16:59, Neagle, Greg wrote: > The method I actually use is to touch /System/Library/Extensions > before > rebooting. I'm using the standard radmind.hook script which just removes the .mkext and .kextcache, but after this update (and one in the past) I found that there was still an old copy of System.kext loaded even after I manually nuked /S/L/Extensions.* and watched it rebuild them in verbose mode. The problem (which interestingly manifested as an inability to mount disk image files) went away when I deleted / System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kernelcaches. So maybe just touching /S/L/Extensions is a more surefire way of doing this... Also, I'm sure I remember there being a post action in the Apple update package that performed this function in the past. There's no such thing as far as I can tell in MacOSXUpd10.4.5PPC.pkg How does Apple do it now? -geoff > > -Greg > > > On 2/27/06 6:09 AM, "Geoff Lee" <g....@ed...> wrote: > >> >> On 23 Feb 2006, at 21:54, Neagle, Greg wrote: >> >>> You should always take steps to update the kernel extension cache >>> when doing >>> an update that replaces kernel extensions.
