Racer's track editor can be used to make custom courses from Themes that have been exported from Blender.

Using themes

When you create a new track, you will be presented with a list of themes. To get a different theme in the list, copy it into your racer data directory. You can nest it under sub-directories, as long as they all have the word 'theme' (in lower case) in the name. Double click a theme, or select one and press new to create a new track with a theme. You cannot change the theme of an existing track, but you may (carefully) edit a theme itself once a track has been created.

Control points

There are several different types of control points that alter the track layout.

Control points on vertices

  • At the centre of each vertex there is a yellow point that moves the vertex.
  • The Green point changes the forwards direction.
  • The red point changes the up direction.

Control points on edges

  • The blue control point adjusts the strength of initial gradient of the curve. Moving it closer to where the edge is attached makes the curve turn sharper, moving it away makes the curve longer.

Dealing with vertices

  • Right click on a vertex to delete it or change its appearance.
  • Right click an empty space and select Add Vertex to create a new vertex there.

Dealing with edges

Right click on an edge to access the edge menu. You can:

  • delete it,
  • change the segment repeated along it.
  • press Make starting positions to use it as the edge where the cars are initially.

Viewing the scene

You can change the view's scale to fit the entire scene by pressing Best Fit on the toolbar or view menu, or pressing Control+0.

You can view the track from the top (default), the front (this is like looking from the bottom edge of the top view), or the side (which is like looking from the right edge of the top view).
