The correct thing to do with FreeBSD is make sure you do this...

Kldload linprocfs
mount -t linprocfs linprocfs /compat/linux/proc

It is the linux compatability with 5.2 that was my problem.

Hmmm, ok.

A correct jvm will not let the java programs crash the jvm. Since this 
happens
with rabbit on FreeBSD I would say that the jvm and/or FreeBSD does 
something
odd.

Can you share the information you have found (link to web page or 
similar would
be good).
