Hi! This is to announce about release of CsoundQT v1.1.3 https://github.com/CsoundQt/CsoundQt/releases/tag/v1.1.3 See release notes https://github.com/CsoundQt/CsoundQt/blob/develop/release_notes/Release%20notes%201.1.3.md Quite secretly, in summer v1.1.2 came out, here are the release notes of that version: https://github.com/CsoundQt/CsoundQt/blob/develop/release_notes/Release%20notes%201.1.2.md NB! There is an e*xperimental Linux Appimage including Csound 7* down by the assets - just download, make it executable and start experimenting on almost any Intel based Linux. I hope to create similar bundles for MacOS and Windows. And an *universal build *based on Qt6, *for MacOS M1/M2/Intel *machines*.* v1.1.x is the end of CsoundQt v1 development line. We will jump straight to *CsoundQt 7 *to include full Csound 7 and Qt6 support, possibly html widgets, better dark theme support, abandon some older or less used functionalities, clean the code, work on design and examples - to bring CsoundQt to a new level. Your help and feedback during this process is very needed and welcome! Thanks! tarmo |

What you are doing is codesigning for your own copy, which is fine. As far as I know, code signing for distribution cannot be done without an apple developer ID, which you need to pay each year for ~ 100U$S. What we can do is follow what puredata does, which is to run a script on the client to codesign the app in behalf of the user on first run. Hi Joachim, would you try this universal build of CsoundQt (including both arm and intel libraries): https://github.com/CsoundQt/CsoundQt/releases/download/v1.1.2-rc1/CsoundQt-1.1.2-rc2-MacOS-universal.dmg Does it load the arm built plugins? And is the problem that CsoundQt always asks permission of opening Documents folder on every run? Following some suggestions I codesigned the app: codesign -s - --deep CsoundQt.app And it solved the problem on my machine but I am not sure how it works when distributed. tarmo |

thanks to you both for the quick and very helpful replies! eduardo, your universal built did the trick. all i had to do, after replacing the old dylibs, was to overcome apples's security management. it worked after i allowed lib by lib via "open in terminal" and then confirm it in the subsequent dialog. this is now the first time i can use csoundqt on this M1 mac without any warning. where can we document it? i have sent a pull request for the README in csound-plugins. but we should provide a clear description for it also on another place. cheers - joachim On 16/04/2024 12:25, Eduardo Moguillansky wrote: > Joachim, here is a universal build of the plugins for csound 6: > > https://github.com/csound-plugins/csound-plugins/releases/download/latest/csound-plugins--macos-universal.zip <https://github.com/csound-plugins/csound-plugins/releases/download/latest/csound-plugins--macos-universal.zip> > > Could you test that and see if both csound and csoundqt accept it? > > For that, remove the old (arm64) plugins from the plugin folder (if you > don't know the folder you can ask risset: 'risset info | grep > pluginspath') and place the universal plugins there instead. Joachim, here is a universal build of the plugins for csound 6: https://github.com/csound-plugins/csound-plugins/releases/download/latest/csound-plugins--macos-universal.zip Could you test that and see if both csound and csoundqt accept it? For that, remove the old (arm64) plugins from the plugin folder (if you don't know the folder you can ask risset: 'risset info | grep pluginspath') and place the universal plugins there instead. You probably need to sign them, for that you can do $ risset dev codesign Then call 'csound -z1' in the terminal to check the loaded opcodes as well as run an empty .csd with -z1 as options inside csoundqt: <CsoundSynthesizer> <CsOptions> -z1 </CsOptions> <CsInstruments> </CsInstruments> <CsScore> </CsScore> </CsoundSynthesizer> On Tue, Apr 16, 2024 at 10:31 AM Tarmo Johannes <trm...@gm...> wrote: > Hi! > > Yes, at the moment it is a mess. Hi! Yes, at the moment it is a mess. But when CsoundQt will be built as universal program and Csound library is that already, bothe intel and arm plugins should work depending the user's architcture. Let's try. I will let know when I will have uploaded a new build. tarmo Kontakt Eduardo Moguillansky (<edu...@gm...>) kirjutas kuupäeval T, 16. aprill 2024 kell 11:12: > I see that Tarmo made it even clearer. I see that Tarmo made it even clearer. This puts mac users in a very difficult position regarding plugins. What might work is to install both intel and arm plugins (renaming them in some way, the name is not important). But this is not a solution and certainly not something for a musician to do. I would first check if your csoundqt build is actually arm. You can do that via "file CsoundQt-d-cs6".app/Contents/MacOS/CsoundQt-d-cs6", or any other binary inside the .app bundle for that matter. For example, I see this in qcs-macx.pro: CONFIG += x86_64 QMAKE_CXXFLAGS += -arch x86_64 Normally qt creator would build for the native arch, as long as the qt kit used is actually built for that architecture. Hi! I think the problem is that even you build CsoundQt yourself, Qt does not provide arm or universal binaries for its libraries before Qt 5.15.10 (that is only update for paid version). So your CsoundQt is still with intel architecture. I guess the extra plugins have arm architecture and thus cannot be combined. You can try with somewhat older build of CsoundQt built with Qt6 with arm support: https://tarmo.uuu.ee/varia/failid/cs/CsoundQt/CsoundQt-1.1.0-Qt6-universal.dmg I will make a new universal build with Qt6 from updated qt6 branch soon. I agree, CsoundQt should support arm architecture. greetings, tarmo Kontakt joachim heintz (<jh...@jo...>) kirjutas kuupäeval E, 15. aprill 2024 kell 21:17: > hi all - > > i have this situation on our studio computer which is Mac M1: > - eduardos libelse plugin opcodes are installed and present in csound > (csound -z shows perlin3). > - the plugins are in the correct architecture (file libelse.dylib shows > it). > - but when csoundqt runs any .csd, it outputs a WARNING about "could not > open ... hi all - i have this situation on our studio computer which is Mac M1: - eduardos libelse plugin opcodes are installed and present in csound (csound -z shows perlin3). - the plugins are in the correct architecture (file libelse.dylib shows it). - but when csoundqt runs any .csd, it outputs a WARNING about "could not open ... (-1)". and indeed perlin3 is not recognized inside csoundqt. i tried this: 1. using the distributed csoundqt for mac (1.1.1) 2. compiling csoundqt with qtcretor. i expected this to work because then the architecture should be the same as for the plugins, but there is no difference in the "could not open ...". 3. i even added the library path in line 26pp of https://github.com/CsoundQt/CsoundQt/blob/develop/qcs-macx.pro, but this also made no difference. does anyone have any idea what is the reason and what might help? cheers - joachim |

Hi! Thank you, Joachim! First - I am prepearing a release of v 1.1.2, the release candidate is up on https://github.com/CsoundQt/CsoundQt/releases/tag/v1.1.2-rc1 with some minor fixes and correction (Just Linux AppImage missing still). The new possible improvements will go to the next version. I will answer below. Kontakt joachim heintz (<jh...@jo...>) kirjutas kuupäeval K, 28. veebruar 2024 kell 10:39: > > 1. syntax highlighting with included udo file > is it possible to add this? > currently UDOs are only highlighted when they are defined in this .csd. > but usually i load them with #include myudos.udo, and then they are not > included in the highlighting system. > Yes, I am quite sure this is doable. > > 2. get rid of declaration for chnset for widgets > currently we have to declare every channel if we want to show this > channel in a widget, like > chn_k("display_random",2) > on one hand it is good practise to list all channels in the header. but > in particular for teaching purposes it is a bit laborious. > it is not necessary for outvalue, and although i know that in/outvalue > and chnget/chnset have different implemenations, from a user's > perspective it would be great to see both in a line. > > I will think. This is more how Csound is done but maybe there is a way that when a csd starts, CsoundQt will send the current value from all widgets according Csound channels. I am not sure if sending values from channels to widgets with chnset will work without chn_k but maybe. I need to try. So far, using "Add chn_k to the csd" from a widget's context menu is somewhat a remedy, I think. > 3. more self-completion > - when using instrument names, it would be great to have self-completion > when i write > schedule("My... > and i have defined "MyInstrument" before. > - self completion is not active inside parenthesis or commas > Good point. It reads " and , as letters of the word, writing ' " MyIns ' should work but CsoundQt should be clever enough to discard quotes and commas. This is definitely doable. Thanks! Tarmo |

hi all - at first, i want to say thank you and congratulations to our developers (tarmo, eduardo and behind them still andrés). i just finished a big project with a lot of live interaction and a big gui. it was so stable and a big pleasure to finalize the GUI with all the nice tools like "align top" and he new arrow way of moving widgets. i thought i write here some wishes which i have while working with csoundqt. 1. syntax highlighting with included udo file is it possible to add this? currently UDOs are only highlighted when they are defined in this .csd. but usually i load them with #include myudos.udo, and then they are not included in the highlighting system. 2. get rid of declaration for chnset for widgets currently we have to declare every channel if we want to show this channel in a widget, like chn_k("display_random",2) on one hand it is good practise to list all channels in the header. but in particular for teaching purposes it is a bit laborious. it is not necessary for outvalue, and although i know that in/outvalue and chnget/chnset have different implemenations, from a user's perspective it would be great to see both in a line. 3. more self-completion - when using instrument names, it would be great to have self-completion when i write schedule("My... and i have defined "MyInstrument" before. - self completion is not active inside parenthesis or commas cheers - joachim |

I found this bug myself in certain situations. While we solve it, you can reset the window state by: 0) Close csoundqt 1) Locate your qutecsound.conf file. In linux this is ~/.config/csound/qutecsound.conf 2) Open it in an editor and remove the lines starting with "windowState" and "dockstate". When you open csoundqt again the state of the panels should be reset to their default state. I hope that helps, Eduardo On 30.11.23 11:10, federico scaglione <fed...@gm...> wrote: > Guys I downloaded csound and csoundqt and while I was checking the view > options I don't know how but I entered a full screen view of the manual > that I can't find a way to esc, I'm going mad please help me > > > _______________________________________________ > Qutecsound-users mailing list > Qut...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/qutecsound-users > |

Hi Jan, Here the example works fine (similar configuration - openSuse Linux, CsoundQt 1.1.1, Csound 6.18) Do you get any error messages? The synth waits for MIDI noton input to play, can you try with the builtin virtual MIDI keyboard or external one? The "Play" button makes no sound by itself.
