Hi everyone, I hope all others are as excited about this venture as I am, after reading Aegir Sun's opening e-mail. Something about myself to start off... I am Rohan Ranade, working currently in Philips Software Center, Bangalore. I have worked in Philips for nearly 1 year during which I have written a controller for Philips' video decoding chips, and also maintained the RTSP / RTP protocol stacks for streaming MPEG4 + ASF data over the net. I will be shifting shortly to Sun Microsystems, Bangalore. My interests include reading books, quizzing and watching movies. Also, I find it interesting to read about new software development approaches like XP (I wonder if we can give that a shot here :-) ). I have a few suggestions to offer based on my experience with past projects: 1. We should go in for the apache voting system to decide which person takes up a particular task. To aid this, every development team member should mention his skillsets and interests. More on this at httpd.apache.org/dev/voting.html 2. We should have a blog where each developer can write about what he/she is working on currently. Apart from serving as a status update tool, it is also a nice way to have some team spirit in a diverse team. 3. Each task should have a main implementor + 1 backup person who should interact with the implementor. I believe we will churn out better code this way. Your comments/criticism on the above suggestions are most welcome. Let's get rolling! Regards, Rohan __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
