We have built a trading platform (also open-source) on top of
Quickfix/J and haven't seen any performance issues with it, and we are
in production at a few customer sites.
In addition, the performance may depend a lot on the type of logging
you are using. For example, using a JDBCLog to write straight to DB
will definitely slow things down.
