Hmm, OK. Just to rule outany regression error: could you please test with version 2.0.0? Thanks, Chris. On 31/08/18 10:06, Xiau Wei Toon wrote: > Indeed that is correct. Indeed that is correct. The logfile is created but permanently empty. I have: 1. Removed all the default slf4j configuration from session settings 2. Added appender for log4j.logger.quickfixj.errorEvent Files are created, but empty. I redirect all the screen logs from java execute line to a dumpfile and I can see all quickfixj events and msg logs generated without any WARN or ERROR. Turning on additivity will not make a copy in system_debug.log as well. Version2.1 is the one used. So you are saying the file ./logs/quickfix.log gets created but with no content? No messages and no events? The SLF4J settings you are passing are the default ones as far as I can see. What happens if you omit them? I have just seen there is an undocumented setting SLF4JLogErrorEventCategory which defaults to "quickfixj.errorEvent". What happens if you add that to your settings? IMHO it can only be a minor config error since this feature is used by many people. Which QFJ version are you using BTW? Chris. I have been trying to route all event logs to one daily rolling log file,
however it is unclear what is going wrong. I verified that quickfixj picked
up the log4j.properties file (by forcing an exception) and also confirmed
that the target log file was created post startup. Please advise.

Yes, definitely. ;) Tthe proxy stuff was implemented with https://www.quickfixj.org/jira/browse/QFJ-285 in version 1.6.3. But IIRC there were some fixes done in later versions,so I guess you'll need at least 1.6.4. Cheers, Chris. Hi, here is an example settings file: https://www.quickfixj.org/usermanual/2.1.0/usage/configuration.html#Sample%20Settings%20File You can define multiple sessions in one file and pass that to your Initiator. It should then initiate all the connections that are defined in the file. Chris. Hi Team, My vendor had two different settings for order management and Market Data. I am only on the client side of proposition. I should use two spring boot applications or Is there any way to switch sessions within the same spring boot application? *Note: *host and port numbers are also different for order management and MARKET DATA |

When the initiator tries to establish a connection and this fails then the error message should be printed directly to the event log: error : java.net.ConnectException during connection to /xxxxxxxxxxxx java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused (Next retry in 30000 milliseconds) For this to work you need to supply a LogFactory implementation with your initiator. Ee.g. the FileLogFactory. Chris. On 21/08/18 10:52, Vamsi Krishna wrote: > It's working now.may be issue is on acceptor side. Hi, with this little amount of information it is hard to tell what the problem is. Which version of QFJ are you using?Make sure that you use the most recent version. Hi, which version of QFJ are you using? Starting from version QFJ 2.0.0 the parsing of unknown repeating group tags should have been improved. See https://github.com/quickfix-j/quickfixj/pull/106 Of course there are limits in recongnizing whether the tag belongs to a specific repeating group instance. So at least the delimiter tag should be correctly specified in the data dictionary. Chris. Hi, I assume you need quickfixj-examples-banzai-2.1.0.jar in the classpath? At least I would assume so given the exception that a Banzai class could not be found. ;) What do you need that old mina lib and backport-util-concurrent in the classpath for? Chris. If the message does not match the dictionary, the parsed message will be broken regardless of validation settings. If you have repeating groups you need a dictionary that can parse those. In such a scenario, message.getException() will be non-null and should give you the reason why the message was dropped. In the latest code the actual raw message is available as: message.toRawString() - although I'm not sure if this has been released yet. - Philip Witehouse On 2018-08-10 10:15, ToonXW wrote: > QuickFIX/J Documentation: http://www.quickfixj.org/documentation/ > QuickFIX/J Support: http://www.quickfixj.org/support/ > > > Hi, > > Upon receiving a multileg TradeCaptureReport (MsgType=AE) where field > 555 is > set to 2 and comes with two fields 654 followed by the respective leg > tags; > but upon retrieving the message via fromApp it is seen that field 555's > value has been switched from 2 to 1 and all legs were dropped, i.e. tag > 654s > disappear along with the rest of the tags. Hi,
Upon receiving a multileg TradeCaptureReport (MsgType=AE) where field 555 is
set to 2 and comes with two fields 654 followed by the respective leg tags;
but upon retrieving the message via fromApp it is seen that field 555's
value has been switched from 2 to 1 and all legs were dropped, i.e. tag 654s
disappear along with the rest of the tags. Please advise on why this is
happening as the goal is to *retain the original message obtained and not
have any processing done to it* - most validation have been turned off.
Config:
UseDataDictionary=Y
ValidateFieldsOutOfOrder=N
ValidateFieldsHaveValues=N
ValidateUserDefinedFields=N
ValidateIncomingMessage=N
AllowUnknownMsgFields=Y
Many thanks.

I'm sure you're aware of this, Robert, but any FIX message that doesn't come in the order of 8,9,35,<the rest> is unambiguously broken. The FIX spec is vague on a lot of things, but this part is explicit. I know that doesn't help you much, just offering moral support. Hi, one of our counterparties (big swiss core banking system) expects tags in a specific order. To cope with this we needed to change the data dictionary and generate the message classes from the dictionary. You could also extend the existing classes and override the fieldOrder byyourself if you do not want to generate the classes from the dictionary(incase you only need a few messagetypes). However, with that counterparty there is a clear separation between header and body fields. Mixing body, trailer and header fields should be a no-no. You could try setting ValidateFieldsOutOfOrder=N to possibly work around thisproblem. Or hope that your counterparty fixes their engine. ;) Cheers, Chris. I have a counterparty who’s not using a typical Header body trailer structure to their fix messaging Ie. In their message tag 17 appears before tag 35 Does quickfixj expect header body trailer order as per the dictionary? Has anybody ever seen other fix providers who don’t adhere to this standard? That means that the application you are sending the message to is not supporting that specific message type. You need to include it in your message cracker. https://www.quickfixj.org/usermanual/2.0.0//usage/receiving_messages.html Chris.
