I agree that I’d expect a response to an order status request. This is something you need to discuss with your counter-party after reviewing your agreement with them. It may, for example, be that they don’t provide an order status service and expect you to maintain your own state and will just send you updates when the state changes. In that scenario I would hope for a reject but there’s no protocol guarantee. For detailed discussions about FIX as a protocol, rather than technical concerns with QFJ you might benefit from asking on the FIX Trading Community forums.
