Looks like there is a problem with the configure.in used to generate
the build scripts. I'm seeing the following:
freebsd2*|freebsd3*|freebsd4*)
LIBS="-pthread $LIBS"
AC_MSG_RESULT([-pthread])
;;
freebsdelf4*)
LIBS="-pthread $LIBS"
AC_MSG_RESULT([-pthread])
;;
This should probably be changed to just this:
freebsd*)
LIBS="-pthread $LIBS"
AC_MSG_RESULT([-pthread])
;;
After making that change try running the bootstrap script to
regenerate the build scripts and try again. This should ensure that
all versions of freebsd get the -pthread flag which is required to
link to the pthread library.
