Hello, Has anybody had success running Quickfix on Mac OSX 10.2.x. Are there any additional libraries to install. Thanks, Ron |

Thanks for that hint. I dont need 4.3 yet. The problem I have in the version I use is that I dont get any meaningfull error message when the socket to the FIX counterparty is dead ! I just get "external object has thrown an exception". Only by single stepping with the debugger through all the code I could see that the socket connection fails. Has that been fixed in a pre 1.5. version or is there a workaround ? Joe Robe An alternate work-around, if you absolutely need features in 1.5 (for example, repeating groups), and are a bit scared of using an interim version, is to simply remove all the FIX43 stuff from the header files. That's a bug. Looks like that exception isn't being handled in the JN= I layer. You're supposed to get a Java exception telling you it was unable = to find the file. -----Original Message----- From: Andrew [mailto:and...@ho...] Sent: Thu 7/3/2003 4:29 PM To: qui...@li... Cc:=09 Subject: RE: [Quickfix-developers] java EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION from quickfix_jni.dll I figured out this problem. If the DataDictionary specified in the .cfg file does not exist then it crashes w/the EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION. The default path in the cfg is a relative one and I was not running the project from the standard location. Still I wonder why I wasn't able to compile w/ENABLE_CALLSTACK defined. This problem occurs when building from the command line also. It happens inside JBuilder 8 and JBuilder 9. You need to edit your project's runtime profile and set your Project Run VM Parameters to -Djava.library.path=3D<your quickfix dll location> Project > Project Properties Click on Run Tab Add a new runtime config in the VM parameters, put in:-Djava.library.path=3D"C:\JBuilder8\myprojects\Quickfix\Quickfix_API_Fi les" [replace with the location of your quickfix dll's and etc..] That's the way I did it, and I've been working from within Jbuilder flawlessly since. I figured out this problem. Thanks for the reply but I think I had that set right. This problem occurs when building from the command line also. It happens inside JBuilder 8 and JBuilder 9. It happens if I execute the project on JVM 1.4.2-beta-b19 or on 1.4.1_02-b06. Oren, When I compile with #define ENABLE_CALLSTACK 1 using VC7 I get these errors: c:\quickfix\src\C++\Initiator.cpp(200): error C2653: 'Acceptor' : is not a class or namespace name c:\quickfix\src\C++\Initiator.cpp(200): error C2276: '&' : illegal operation on bound member function expression c:\quickfix\src\C++\Initiator.cpp(200): error C2653: 'Acceptor' : is not a class or namespace name c:\quickfix\src\C++\Initiator.cpp(200): error C2276: '&' : illegal operation on bound member function expression Any ideas? Something overlooked in setting up the .sln? Thanks, Andrew Munn -----Original Message----- From: qui...@li... [mailto:qui...@li...] On Behalf Of C. Thanks to anyone who recognises this symptom. I am using the executor as the foundation for a FIX message multiplexer. I'm using the same quickfix_jni.dll that I use successfully with the banzai client, java executor, etc. When I run the app(either from within JBuilder or the prompt) execution gets to the line: acceptor = new SocketAcceptor(application, messageStoreFactory, settings, logFactory, messageFactory); I get: C:\multifix>run_multifix.bat C:\multifix>set CLASSPATH=./lib/mfix.jar;./lib/quickfix.jar; C:\multifix>java -Djava.library.path=./lib; multifix.mfix cfg\multifix.cfg instantiating a SocketAcceptor An unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the VM. This is probably more to do with tradeclient than with QuickFIX itself. The tradeclient is aborted using ctrl-c which is forcing the application to exit without cleaning up the stack. I would guess these are the memory leaks you are seeing. If you modify tradeclient so that you it will terminate gracefully, you should see better results. There are only two places where memory leaks had been discovered. These were with repeating groups, which is the only class in the QF C++ library that does any heap allocation, and in the JNI wrapper which needs to do heap allocation + allocate JVM resources. --- Jon Dahl <jd...@Li...> wrote: > I have my own custom memory leak class and have > included it into the debug version of the > TradeClient app. > > When the app ends, there are a bunch of memory dumps > being reported in the Output screen in VC++6. > > Has anyone tested Quickfix for memory leaks or could > these just be false positives with the heavy > use of STL templates? > > Here is the code for my leaks class: > > //#define _CRTDBG_MAP_ALLOC > #include <stdlib.h> > #include <string.h> > #include <crtdbg.h> > > > #ifdef _DEBUG > #define new new(_NORMAL_BLOCK, THIS_FILE, __LINE__) > #endif > > > class FindMemoryLeaks > { > public: > > CrtMemState m_checkpoint; > > FindMemoryLeaks() > { > _CrtMemCheckpoint(&m_checkpoint); > > }; > > ~FindMemoryLeaks() > > { > _CrtMemState checkpoint; > > _CrtMemCheckpoint(&checkpoint); > > _CrtMemState diff; > > _CrtMemDifference(&diff, &m_checkpoint, > &checkpoint); > > _CrtMemDumpStatistics(&diff); > > _CrtMemDumpAllObjectsSince(&diff); > }; > > }; > > TIA, > > JD > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.Net email sponsored by: Free pre-built > ASP.NET sites including > Data Reports, E-commerce, Portals, and Forums are > available now. > Download today and enter to win an XBOX or Visual > Studio .NET. > http://aspnet.click-url.com/go/psa00100006ave/direct;at.asp_061203_01/01 > _______________________________________________ > Quickfix-developers mailing list > Qui...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/quickfix-developers __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? I have my own custom memory leak class and have included it into the = debug version of the TradeClient app. When the app ends, there are a bunch of memory dumps being reported in = the Output screen in VC++6. Has anyone tested Quickfix for memory leaks or could these just be false = positives with the heavy use of STL templates? Here is the code for my leaks class: //#define _CRTDBG_MAP_ALLOC #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> #include <crtdbg.h> #ifdef _DEBUG #define new new(_NORMAL_BLOCK, THIS_FILE, __LINE__) #endif class FindMemoryLeaks { public: CrtMemState m_checkpoint; =20 FindMemoryLeaks() { _CrtMemCheckpoint(&m_checkpoint); }; ~FindMemoryLeaks() { _CrtMemState checkpoint; _CrtMemCheckpoint(&checkpoint); _CrtMemState diff; _CrtMemDifference(&diff, &m_checkpoint, &checkpoint); _CrtMemDumpStatistics(&diff); _CrtMemDumpAllObjectsSince(&diff); }; }; TIA, JD |

I am building a simple FIX message multiplexor consisting of an acceptor which receives connections from multiple order entry apps and an initiator which sends all the orders out over a single session to a clearing firm. Execution Reports will have to be returned to the tradeclient that created the order. I expect many people have done similar projects. Does anyone know where I could find code accomplishing this? I'm wondering why the default executor.cfg includes 4.0, 4.1, and 4.3 when executor is 4.2 only? I'm using the java executor and it throws Unsupported message type to limit orders sent by the Banzai client using a non-FIX 4.2 session. I know from the java code that everything is like: public void onMessage( org.quickfix.fix42.NewOrderSingle order, SessionID sessionID ) So the 4.2 only behavior makes sense but why the (confusing) extra session entries? Heh. I can't believe that there is actually a variable called 'foo'. That really should be called 'len'; That char* is the result from strptime, which points to the last character in the parsed time. This is just checking that the length of the parsed string is 17 characters long. Sounds like you have two situations, one where you could get a 17 character or a 21 character (with milliseconds) time. You can keep it as a string depending on how you want to used the field. If you just want to display them, no reason to do any conversion at all. If you want to do comparisons or pull out individual components of the time, then you will probably want it converted. --- ili...@bn... wrote: > > First of all, thanks for your interest, and to > answer your question, I > receive UTCTimeStamps with AND without milliseconds, > and I'd like to > receive both correctly. > I've tried to modify the UTCTimerStampConvertor, but > I must say that I'm > stumped by the code, especially the substraction of > char* : > if (foo - val != 17) ... > > For the moment, and as 370 it's not a required tag, > I've declared it as a > STRING, not a UTCTimeStamp. First of all, thanks for your interest, and to answer your question, I receive UTCTimeStamps with AND without milliseconds, and I'd like to receive both correctly. I've tried to modify the UTCTimerStampConvertor, but I must say that I'm stumped by the code, especially the substraction of char* : if (foo - val != 17) ... For the moment, and as 370 it's not a required tag, I've declared it as a STRING, not a UTCTimeStamp. If you have a better solution than this one, I'd love to hear it. Thanks again. In the messages themselves or in the log files? You can derive your own logger and have it add any information you like, including local timestamps. FIX requires that the messages themselves be stamped with UTC. Hi all, Is there anyway to make quickfix generate time stamps on the local time, i.e. BST rather than UTC. Many thanks in advance, Paul. |
