Hello All, I have a fix initiator connection up and running. I'm receiving admin and app level messages, although only the admin-level messages are being saved to the log file -> heartbeats, rejects etc No execution messages ( 35=8 ) are saved. Is there a setting I need to add to the cfg file ? Thanks in advance -- View this message in context: http://old.nabble.com/only-admin-level-messages-are-being-saved-to-the-log-file-tp33244476p33244476.html Sent from the QuickFIX - Dev mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Hi, those fields are header fields, so you need to do message.getHeader().removeField(int). Cheers, Chris. Seqno management is done "under the hood" so to speak. You are correct; internally, the seqno is incremented and all transport-layer processing is completed before it hands the message to the application layer. If the seqno received is incorrect, the transport layer will automatically perform the FIX-mandated behaviors, such as sending a resend request and whatnot. -Grant On Fri, Dec 30, 2011 at 9:39 AM, djmob <dan...@bl...> wrote: > QuickFIX Documentation: http://www.quickfixengine.org/quickfix/doc/html/index.html > QuickFIX Support: http://www.quickfixengine.org/services.html > > > >From my own testing, setting a breakpoint inside fromAdmin (instead of > fromApp) looking at sequence number of the message and killing the app > before letting fromAdmin return, it appears that the QuickFIX received > sequence number is incremented (looking at the sequence number file) even > though fromAdmin did not return. The seqno should never be negative. It's definitely negative in your raw FIX message log? (i.e. it's not simply a debug line that's misinterpreting an unsigned int as signed?) If it's negative in your log, then that's definitely a bug, though I'm not sure what's causing it. I think you should open a bug report and attach your logs. Bug tracker is here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/quickfix/ -Grant On Fri, Dec 23, 2011 at 1:41 PM, Fernando Lima <bo...@gm...> wrote: > QuickFIX Documentation: http://www.quickfixengine.org/quickfix/doc/html/index.html > QuickFIX Support: http://www.quickfixengine.org/services.html > > > Hello, > > I having problems with ResendRequest messages after a crash. I suspect I'm missing something here though as I am surprised that QuickFix increments the sequence number in this way as this seems flawed imo. I'm still learning here so any help appreciated. djmob wrote: > > I understand that QuickFIX manages message sequence numbers (using the > sequence number file) and sends ResendRequests as needed. I understand that QuickFIX manages message sequence numbers (using the sequence number file) and sends ResendRequests as needed. I am a little unclear though exactly how this is done and if it works for my particular scenario. For example if the QuickFIX engine were to receive an ExecutionReport message but before fromApp() returns the process crashes, was the received sequence number count already incremented even though I did not fully process the message? I need to guarantee that fromApp () fully executed before the sequence number count is incremented, so that the correct ResendRequest message is sent upon restarting my application in case of a crash. Thanks in advance for any help. -- View this message in context: http://old.nabble.com/When-are-sequence-numbers-incremented--tp33052499p33052499.html Sent from the QuickFIX - Dev mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Hello, I having problems with ResendRequest messages after a crash. The events in quickfix log are: 1) receive a ExecutionReport with MsgSeqNum=84316 2) send Logon 3) receive Logon with MsgSeqNum=84320 4) send ResendRequest with BeginSeqNo = -799597242 The crash happened between steps 1 and two. Is there any reason for the negative number in BeginSeqNo? Thanks in advance, Fernando. |

As I commented on the bug (https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3023908&group_id=37535&atid=1126912), I wanted to attach this patch, but it won't let me. This patch should properly re-enable UseLocalTime=Y for sessions. It fixes some of the damage done by commit #2160. --Brian Crowell Developer, Barbnet Investments |

Disclaimer: I have not built a multi-threaded QuickFix-based FIX engine. I do not know whether QuickFix is architected in a way that would be consistent with multi-threading. Assuming that it's possible on the QuickFix side, you might consider using the the std::thread threading facilities provided by the new c++11 standard. There are versions of g++ (gcc's c++ compiler) that support std::thread on both linux and windows. (I don't happen to know whether msvc supports std::thread.) (There are also commercial third-party std::thread libraries, so that might be an option for your particular platform.) If I were going to start a new multi-threaded c++ project today, I would definitely use std::thread over boost::thread. std::thread has become real over the last little while, and is now part of the standard. > Any example code-snippets would be highly appreciated. Hi QuickFix-developers, has anybody ever coded a threaded FIX-application in C++, i.e. one thread per FIX-Session. I am wondering whether to use the thread_spawn, etc..... methods or to use the boost-library? Any example code-snippets would be highly appreciated. All, Connamara Systems has just completed and released version 1.0 of Quickfix/n a .NET port of QuickFIX. We are hoping that we can develop the same community support that QuickFIX and QuickFIX/j has enjoyed. Please visit www.quickfixn.org for more info. Jim |

This patch makes some of the directory references in quickfix_vs10.vcxproj and quickfix_net_vs10.vcxproj a little less dependent on the location of the solution file. I had to do this because I was adding those projects to another solution and building them there. The output directories haven't changed, just the input directories. For example where quickfix_vs10.vcxproj puts its include files in ..\..\include (relative to the project file), quickfix_net_vs10.vcxproj now looks for them there, too (instead of $(SolutionDir)\include). Just a suggestion. This doesn't touch the older VS* projects. --Brian Crowell Barbnet Investments |

Hi everyone, In my fix application (server), I would like to restrict access by both SenderCompID and IP address. That is, I want to enforce that SenderCompID A can only login from IP X and SenderCompID B can only login from IP Y. Because this depends on data in the fix protocol, a simple firewall will not work without deep packet inspection. Ideally, my application will perform the filtering. However, it doesn't look like the QuickFix api exposes the client IP. Is this correct? Thank you for any help, Scott |
