[Quickfix-developers] compatible questions

Hi,

Beforing going into too many details, I have some
basic questions about QuickFix.

1. Currently, my company will be using FIX 4.4. If a
broker uses FIX 4.2, can the broakers and my company
understand each other? Or the versions have to be
same? 

2. If we need to use both 4.4 and 4.2 to deal with
different brokers, do we have to use different
QuickFIX APIs? If so, does that mean we need to
implement same logics using differently APIs multiple
times? And in the future, do we have to rewrite the
code if we want to upgrade to newer version of FIX?
