Did you also consider the JBoss application server (www.jboss.org)? It 
is also JMX based, and you can use it without the J2EE stuff.

There have been some efforts to integrate QuickFIX with JBoss. Search 
the list.

Are you talking about the QF Java API which uses JNI?
