[Quickfix-developers] Why port is of type short in initiator/acceptor classes

Hi,
 
I'm new to quickfix and I'm using v1.5 in VC++7, Windows2K.
 
Why port is of type short in initiator/acceptor classes?  I have
upcoming testing which will require ports around 60000.  Is changing the
source code from short to int the best way?  Suggestions are most
welcome.
