I know but unfortunately the counterparty is not acting in a standardized way. This means that after a logon the next message (for example a heartbeat) will have MsgSeqNum = 2. This gets declined by the counterparty with "Sequence number gap detected, expected 1, received 2". I'm now looking for a way to start with sequence number 1 again after logon.

What do you mean by "still needs to start with MsgSeqNum = 1"? This is the normal case. Sequence number in FIX do no start with 0.
Cheers,
Chris.

Is there a way to start the Logon with MsgSeqNum = 0 instead of 1? I'm trying to connect to a counterparty which still needs to start with MsgSeqNum = 1 after Login.
