[Quickfix-users] Does Logon Having blank tags pose a problem

I am trying to connect to a squickfix server using 1.12.4 version of quickfix(FIX 4.4). I am told that blank tags would cause a fix message to get rejected.
Since Logon is created as part of the Initiator process(Admittedly I do see the message before it goes out via toAdmin), I was wondering if this is infact trrue?
And wether there is an elegant way to remove the blank tags(in this case fix tag 96).
