I had this in my log4j.xml:

<logger name="quickfix.SessionSettings">
	<level value="info" />
</logger>

and tried:

<logger name="quickfixj">
	<level value="info" />	
</logger>

I changes the code to be:

SessionSettings settings = new
SessionSettings(_fixCfgProperties.getInputStream());
MessageStoreFactory storeFactory = new FileStoreFactory(settings);
LogFactory logFactory = new SLF4JLogFactory(settings);
MessageFactory messageFactory = new DefaultMessageFactory();
Initiator initiator = new SocketInitiator(this, storeFactory,settings,
logFactory, messageFactory);
setInitiator(initiator);
_dialect = new DefaultDialect();
startSession();
