Eureka.

There is a -threads parameter that can be used with -python.  It  
looks like it automatically does exactly what we were talking about  
implementing and then some.  So all I had to do was update the bash  
script.  Easy as can be.  I checked in the results.  Give it a try  
and see how it goes.
