In this case, xhost does not appear to be a problem.  First of all,
xclock
easily gets queue'd, secondly, I'm running my display on a X emulator
(X-WinPro
in case anyone wonders), which allows anyone to throw windows up on your
screen (X server).

DISPLAY is set in advance, and tests show that it is forwarded
correctly.
