I am trying to simulate a marx generator. I got the circuit up and running on qucs minus the spark gaps so my voltage out is the same as my voltage in. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to get the spark gaps in. It is ok to email me at rea...@gm... Thanks, Lloyd |

But can't you use a switch to emulate the spark gap? These two works below seem to successfully use a switch to simulate the spark. I will let you do the reading :) http://d-scholarship.pitt.edu/9976/ Meiners, Steven Edward (2002) /An Impulse Generator Simulation Circuit./ Master's Thesis, University of Pittsburgh. http://eprints.uthm.edu.my/251/ Impulse generator and lightning characteristics simulation using orcad PSpice software Kamarudin, Muhammad Saufi and Sulaiman, Erwan and Ahmad, Md Zarafi and Zulkifli, Saiful Aizam and Othman, Ainul Faiza (2008) Impulse generator and lightning characteristics simulation using orcad PSpice software. Alright, I admit that I Googled for: spice marx generator Anyway, switches are tricky and might add to your simulation run time. Please let us know how it goes. Regards, Guilherme |

John, Sorry, I got in a mess sending this and I'm not sure if you have seen it or not. It also didn't go to the mailing list so here's another attempt ... ========================= I haven't tried it in QUCS but this article will show a way to model a spark gap that I think can be implemented fairly easily in QUCS: http://www.intusoft.com/nlhtm/nl50.htm#SPARKGAPMODELING This article is also contained in: http://www.intusoft.com/psbook.htm directly downloadable from: http://www.intusoft.com/lit/psbook.pdf Cheers, Andy. signality.co.uk |
