[Quantlib-dev] A double contribution

Good afternoon!

We are considering a two-author contribution with a colleague. 
It would be based on his Master’s thesis and his code prototype in Python. I would like to do the C++ implementation and tests, and commit it to the repository. 
Is it possible for us both to become contributors to QuantLib in this process?
What are the rules here?
Is becoming a contributor tightly coupled with the git commit authorship?
