I am happy to announce that Quadball 0.1, the first stable release, is out on Windows and Linux. The server package is only available on Windows for now. Numerous bug fixes and improvements have lead to the 0.1 release, so check it out and enjoy!
With the first official release of Quadball out, 0.1-dev01, the Alpha phase has officially started for the Quadball project. As this is the first full release, you can enjoy both singleplayer as well a multiplayer, thought the masterserver is not always online. Again, bug reports are valued greatly as they help to reach the stable 0.1 release. The server executables will be released soon, enabling you to host your own games.
So development has continued, especially on the server framework and multiplayer gameplay. We are not far away from a playable match online against other people, rather than just paying against the AI. This is going to be an amazing breakthrough for the Quadball gameplay experience. For now, please stay updated with this project and help me testing the current releases. Send me your feedback so I can consider them carefully before the first alpha release! See you soon on the field...
Now, next to the Test releases, there are Source releases containing both the game and CEngine source as it is still in pre-alpha phase. The source release contains the newest source files that are not released as a build yet, so you can review the source or peek into new upcoming features.
As development is continuing, I am happy to announce that the multiplayer mode is being implemented. From version 7 on, you should be able to connect to the masterserver from the game for network testing purposes. However, the masterserver is not online all the time. There should not be too much time left before we can play online, where the real tactical gameplay comes out!
Quadball has, as a new application/game, entered its testing phase. Each test release is intended to fix bugs in the engine as well as the game itself. Additionally, the gameplay is being implemented step by step through these test releases. Your help is much appreciated, but of course it is also fun to play Quadball... even in pre-alpha stage!
