I have a windows 10 and I had ran into the same issue. What I did was to open the view tab in file explorer, open the dropdown window below "Options", check QTTabBar.

I've tested this behavior a little and there are steps to reproduce this bug. 1. Search "query" in some folder (it's enough to type any character); 2. Delete your query in search field by backspace or "x" button / close tab; 3. Press "Maximize" or "Minimize" windows control button / explorer button on taskbar; After this your current tab will automatically search your "query" from step 1 in your current location. Qttabbar ver. 2048 beta 2

searching in window file explorer with numpad is extremely convenient, but with qttabar preview turned on it also turns on the sizing hotkey of preview picture (numpad 9 and 7 for up/down sizing) which prevent use of numpad to search in explorer. searching with regular numbering key on top of keyboard is much slower and inefficient, how can the numpad hotkey for qttabar preview be disabled?

Hi, i'd like to have in the action bar, a button that just paste a file (the same always) in the current folder. Ex : my file is x:\file.bat, and if I open the folder d:\example, I would like to click that button to paste file.bat in it....i don't know if it's clear...any help ? thanx.

Been using QtTabBar from http://qttabbar.wikidot.com/ for some years on Win7 and Win10. I rebuilt my PC to use Win11 (clean install, not an upgrade), and tried that extension, but it's pretty buggy. In all fairness, it is marked as beta, so can't expect too much yet. However, there doesn't seem to have been any activity there for a year or so, and the author didn't reply to an email, so it looks abandoned. The one major problem it has is that it ignores the fact that File Explorer itself now supports...

Subject says it all. Works fine for x264, but x265/HEVC fails, with error 0xC00D109B. The error only appears for a moment, and then the preview begins with only the sound playing, which makes it seem pretty clear that the software just isn't compatible with x265 yet. Could this be added? Since you already have an option for hardware acceleration it shouldn't be a big deal, especially since it's only an optional toggle, right? Couldn't get this to work. Instead I went with FastStone Image Viewer for an image manager and Resonic Player for a sample manager.

I have previews showing for some images and text files, but nothing for any audio or video file of any format or extension. Windows Media Player is installed - I even trying setting it as the default for a file extension, but it still doesn't work.

It is just as odd as the title reads. I have 4 tabs open with different drives/foders. In one, I did a search for "tripod" in File Explorer's upper-right search field. I then hit the "x" in the search field to end the search and hit "back" to go to the previous folder. I moved onto the next task and minimized the window. When I minimized it, it popped right back up from the taskbar and the current tab went into a search for "tripod". If I switch to a different tab and minimize, it will pop back up...

I still can't break myself from the habit of clicking there. It's already been a thing for so many years and suddenly my reflexes for recycling bin are thwarted. I am giving it another week or so but likely, if I can't get rid of these specific menu options, I'll likely uninstall and try a new tab solution. shrug

I am using the latest version of the program. I have noticed that sometimes when I highlight a file and press "del", I have to hit it a second time as nothing happens. It seems to be at random as other times I can delete on the first attempt.

Is this even possible? I don't use "other view" for anything and have no use for it. It just doesn't do anything for my own habits and patterns behind a computer. However, certain icons like the Recycling bin, I keep opening things up in other view since it messes with my reflexes. Usually, when you right-click on the recycling bin, the second option is to empty it. Found it. You need to scroll down in the 'events' tab to see the setting for it.

New user/tester here. This app seems very nice, and a lot of thought and effort seems to have been put into it. So a big thank you and much respect for the developer! I am running into a serious issue though. After having made some tweaks to get things to my liking, I now find that I can not close a window anymore by clicking on the close icon top right. The close icon will only flash once or twice, but the window will stay open. Obviously this would be a deal breaker, but before I give up on this...

Hello, I looked through the options menu in an attempt to disable this feature when you double left click on the background, it goes up a level of folders. I want to configure it such that it doesn't happen at all such that if I do double click it does nothing. I already have mouse controls to move between levels in tab history and I don't want to get confused with this feature. I've checked an older post about this but when I go to Options > Tab > "When background double clicked" always executes...

Hi, I am about to receive a new computer, is there an option to backup settings and created folder groups to transfer them to the new computer. I am working constantly with this extension for Windows explorer and have created several groups. I hate the idea to do this all again. Any support will be appreciated. Hi - Is there a way in QTTabBar to change the default mouse drag and drop from copy to move? I would like to be able to simply move a file from one folder to another with a drag and drop (in the same tab) instead of copy. Thank you for the help! Jim

I'm no longer able to open folders by clicking on them. In events, both double click and enter key are set to none. Both settings are disabled so I'm not able to do anything about it. Please help!!!

Thanks, Pedro! I found some groups and delete them. Also, I found an option "Start-up Group". If I will use groups, I will check not to use this option. But, may be problem was in this file: C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\QTTabBar Desktop Extension StartUp.QTTabGroup I delete it, may be it will help.

Hi guys Try this: -Disasociate the extension .QTTabGroup from any text editor that might be configured by default. -Search on QTTabBar Options and see if it looks like the ones I attached (I see some files opening/closing when I restart, but I have many scripts so I could't catch exactly what opened which interface) - As the file states, that option is needed to load the QTTabBar at startup, disabling it from doing (start whith windows) might solve the problem. You know that quick button that lets you make a quick command prompt that automatically CD's into the directory that you're in? I use it a lot. Especially with FFMPEG. But recently I've started using PowerShell a lot more. Is there any way to replace the shortcut to start PowerShell and CD into the directory that you're in, similar to the command prompt shortcut? The file contains the following text... **QTTabBar Desktop Extension StartUp** This file is for loading dlls at Shell start up, required to extend Desktop. This sometimes happens when I connect my android phone to my PC. When Windows automatically opens the window to my phone, 1 out of 3 times I get this error. Hey Lawrence, First, it seems this project is no longer in development, but I still have have it working in windows 10. To answer your question though, there is not a plus (+) button, but you can open a new tab by just double clicking on the tab bar (not a tab itself, but the empty tab bar space), this will make a copy of the current tab you have focused at the time. I lock some tabs and lock the tab bar. Then I reboot and they've all gone! I would like to define a set of tabs and always have them showing, even after a reboot. Is this possible now? Am I missing something? Regards

I was having this problem too but I recalled it working at one time, when I first installed this version. I remember not wanted videos playing to make things faster but then later I wanted to see them but NONE of the settings would get it back. hello guys, so when using the qttabbar's flyout button (the downward arrow beside each folder) we can see the preview of the images in the flyout tree. Is it possible to see the video thumbnail of .mp4 videos in the same manner?

Hi, I'm not sure if this is clear what is bothering me, I love QTTabBar in general, but as soon as I have installed it, when I change selected items using my keyboard arrow keys(up & down), when I reach the bottom, it returns back to the top most item. Now it's driving me crazy because I usually have folders with many files and I navigate through them fast to find something but this jump is a total distraction. Apologies if this has been dealt with elsewhere - couldn't find it... If I use the Group (Star) button to open a favourite folder, it always opens an additional tab. I have multiple external drives plugged in, but only one of the drives info doesn't show in the ribbon. The drive works, but where it should say what the name of the drive is grayed out. I use font colors and it still doesn't show fot that one drive. What causes this and what can I do to make it work? I contacted the drive manufacturer and they said it's a Windows 10 issue or the software (meaning QTTabBar) issue. First time I browsed for folders with DLLs and added them all at once, after failure one-by-one and always not shown. Then I tried to drag'n'drop them, again - no one shown. Hi! I have installed QTabBar combined with Clover on Windows 10.1803 Pro x64. My problem is that I positioned views and bars, When I re-open Explorer positions are always repositioned and it's main problem. Other problem is also bars positions are always repositioned and have hidden parts with double >. This make me crazy - by this way I cannot work. Even - no matter if are toolbars locked or not - it is always like disaster. Can anybody help me? Friend has the same combination (QTabBar and Clover)...
