Okay, the CARE Tcode has been recomitted to SVN. Beware that some things (eg .project files) may have appeared in the process. Hopefully this won't cause you too much pain in eclipse (if you use it). I've not built this yet, so the usual disclaimers apply as to whether it builds successfully: I'll address that on Monday. But my latest code is in SVN now! Dan. |

Dear all, In sorting out the SVN, I will have to break the minibix source tree for some time. You can still test against qtitools.caret.cam.ac.uk . In general, it's a good idea to test against this site whenever possible, particularly when there's a discrepancy or unexplained strangeness. Not only for the code version issues, but because we will get a full stack trace and error log, which will help track down the bug. We will try to cut tags in future when we do updates to this site. Hi, Something else with Validatr. I don't seem to be able to create a customOperator like the following: templateProcessing->setTemplateValue-> <customOperator ma:syntax="MAXIMA" class="org.qtitools.mathassess.ScriptRule"> </customOperator> I get the following error (see attachment) Loading in an existing one is ok (see attached example). Hi, Well, 1280x1024 ain't tiny, but thanks. That is great. Could you do something else? I need to stop Validatr automatically expanding all tree branches. Lines 166-167 of TreePanel.java do it. Would it be possible to add a configuration parameter which could switch this off or on? Preferably this would be in the Spring xml config file. Hi James, Wow, you must be using a really low resolution screen - I have no problems fitting the menu on ;-) Anyway, you might want to try updating from the svn and building yourself a new version of validatr, and see if the my attempted fix works for you... Let me know how it goes. Hi It has come to my attention that there is a problem with Validatr. The problem is as follows: When ADDING elements to a TemplateProcessing (for example), one right clicks an element, chooses Add, selects a new Element, e.g. SetTemplateValue. Then you right click Add, and add an Expression, the list produced is very long and disappears off the bottom of the screen. There is no way to access the hidden list items. This is a known bug with the Java JPopupMenu (http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4503727). The suggested fix is to use a dialog instead (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/493247/how-to-create-a-scrollable-jpopupmenu/494047). I had a look at doing this and the task is not trivial. This has implications for Mathqurate because Validatr is used. This problem means Mathqurate cannot fully support FELTAR until a resolution is found. Is there resources to fix Validatr? Please can I have some comments and ideas about the next steps? James This email has been scanned for all viruses by the MessageLabs Email Security System. |

Hi All, This seems to be working ok. The only thing I would add as that the repository requires the libraries to Releases and not Snapshots. But this suits us because we agreed to harmonise on release versions at a previous meeting. Thanks Jon. Hi everyone, I've just had a need to setup a proper (in the sense that it is both readable, and writeable (to those who have access)) maven repository for my new projects and whilst doing so have also created one for qtitools. The repository is available at: http://maven.qtitools.org If you want to USE artefacts from the repository in your projects you need to add the following to your pom and specify the dependencies as normal: ... <repositories> <repository> <id>qtitools maven repository</id> <url>http://maven.qtitools.org/</url> </repository> </repositories> ... If you want to DEPLOY your own artefacts so others can use them, then there are a couple of steps: First, add the following server spec to the <servers> part of your maven settings.xml file (http://maven.apache.org/settings.html#Servers): ... <server> <id>qtitools</id> <username>qtitools-deployment</username> <password>qtit00ls.0rg</password> </server> ... Secondly, add the following to the pom file of the artefact you wish to deploy: ... <distributionManagement> <repository> <id>qtitools</id> <name>QTITools Repository</name> <url>http://maven.qtitools.org</url> </repository> </distributionManagement> ... Thirdly, run the following command (from the directory containing the pom): mvn deploy That's it! The artefact should now be deployed on the server :) You can also deploy individual files (i.e. if you have a dependency that isn't already in some maven repository) using the mvn deploy:deploy- file command (see http://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-deploy-plugin/usage.html) Let me know if you try it or have any problems... Dear all, I promised details of when I'd be around Monday and Tuesday as soon as they became concrete. That's not happened, so I am going to convey the vagueness in as much detail as I can. I will be in the office, but not at my desk, between 10 and 12:30 on Monday. If you leave voicemail I should be able to answer at one-ish. On Tuesday, I'm busy from 4 onwards, and also /probably/ for a few hours in the morning, provisionally from 10:30-13:00. This meeting will be offsite, and is liable to move or be cancelled. I'll have a better idea after my 10am meeting on Monday. Again, voicemail is probably the best way to be in touch. If there are any changes, or bugfixes to be made to Minibix I can do that on the afternoon of Monday, if you let me know by about 2pm. I'll not be able to make any fixes between now and then. Good luck with the trials. My number is 01223 765398. We have caller ID, but it's not 100% reliable, so if you give me your number in the message, that will help me ring back. Dan. |

James, I think I missed out on a bit of this conversation. Is it right that you have some jars to put onto www2.caret.cam.ac.uk? If you drop me them off, I can put them up. In the long term, though, we should probably look into hosting the repository on qtitools.org? Dan. |

Dear all, Just a quick correction and further details on test ingest. You send to minibix via a REST POST command. You need to specify deposit type [1] which should be /imscp/ (not /test/, as previously suggested). You also need to give the file itself [2]. You will receive a list of "tickets" (id's) corresponding to the ingested test and all its questions. The test will be the highest valued of these numbers. There is a form (at [3]) which simulates this process and invokes the webservice. Try it out, and then all you need to do is duplicate it! To retrieve an item (eg test) go to the base URL [4] with XXX replaced by the ticket number. Dan. [1] with query parameter key http://www.caret.cam.ac.uk/minibix/metadata/depositType [2] with query parameter key file [3] http://qtitools.caret.cam.ac.uk/qtibank-webserv/TestPost.html [4] http://qtitools.caret.cam.ac.uk/qtibank-webserv/deposits/all/XXX |

Minibix has now been updated to allow uploading, downloading, and searching for tests, and is live. Please check that the existing facilities still work, particularly test uploading via the webservice (MathAssess). The mechanism is exactly the same as for items. Minibix detects a test from its metadata and routes it appropriately. The deposit type (if specified) is not "imscp" but "test". I'll just work through a manual webservice example, and forward the info shortly. Dan. |

Sorry to bother you all, but does anyone have a simple example test as a CP with its items. I'm having real trouble finding one and it's holding me up. The IMS site is draining vast amounts of time (and will to live) and I can't find anything out there on the web. If someone has one to hand, or else better googling skills than me, could find one, I'd be really grateful. Dan. |
