SL-C1000 w/ USB UG-200

GPS units

I bought a cheap USB GPS which claims to be NMEA compatable.  The only identifier on it is the model number UG-200.

It works fine with zRoadmap, but I can't get qpeGPS to recognize it.  When I start qpeGPS I get a green OK box for gpsd, but all other gps communications boxes are red.

I can start zRoadmap while qpeGPS is still running, and see 5 satellites, so I know the GPS is working, and gpsd is receiving data.

    Any suggestions?

      OK -- I fixed it.

      I had two separate issues.
         1) qpeGPS doesn't like the version of gpsd I was using for RoadMap.  RoadMap is OK with qpeGPS's gpsd, so I'll be using that one.
         2) I needed to be starting qpeGPS with root access enabled.

Once I solved both issues, it works very nicely.
