#2 log on problems

i have installed on my PMA400 following the
instruction on the site. It launches and everthing
seems set up fine. when i try to log on using the
status bar starts filling up, then when it gets to
like half way it just disappears and nothing happens.
Then if i try to close gaim, it will close but as
soon as it is gone, a new instance of the program
starts up so i can never get out of it.
