While twice the size works for the user interface elements, the scrolling ticker display of the track title is too large to display properly. That is you only get to see the bottom half. At least that is my experience on Ubuntu 17.04 with a Surface Book.

I confirm the same, scaling x2 works directly only for interface related also win version, so its not an OS related issue. Also you can enlarge fonts twice (8 to 16) in Settings/Appearence/Fonts. The only issue i have found is enlarged font overfits its dedicated space in main window, its where songs name is displayed. Maybe developers can answer something about it, I am a humble user just trying to help 8-)
PS. Also double sized skin appears pixelated like, but maybe any HD skin exists for this purpose to avoid pixelation.
I dont know if enlarge it twice will be enough for you.
