When changing volume in the player, it changes the global volume (I can see that by simply looking at my system volume menu) rather than just the volume of the qmmp process.
As far as I could see I can change just the qmmp's volume using sound mixer without an issue, so why wouldn't qmmp be able to do it by itself?

    P. S. I'm using Zorin OS 17 which is based on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.

Try to use PulseAudio output or enable software volume control (Settings-> Audio).

Thanks, switching to PulseAudio output works great! It was set to ALSA before.
For every other user coming from google: it's in Settings -> Modules -> Output.

For moderators: i don't see option to edit ticket, so it needs to be edited to medium priority with issue being qmmp not setting to system's default audio engine when installed/launched for the first time (or just closed if a new one needs to be created for this)
